Meet Your Corporate & Community Engagement Team

By eNewsletter, February 2024 eNewsletter

LifeCare Alliance Corporate and Community in Being There Matters t-shirts

You may often hear from our Corporate & Community Engagement Team members, but you may not have faces to go with their names. These are the associates who reach out to you about your volunteer experience, train you, and schedule your shifts. They oversee volunteer relationships for LifeCare Alliance, in-kind product donations, and our Senior Pet Care services. Next time you see one of them in the hallways or at an event, please say “hi” – they’d love to put your face to your name too!

First row

Nicole Envid, Community Engagement Manager, nenvid@lifecarealliance.org

You may hear from Nicole if you volunteer as an individual, church, school, or small group. She’s responsible for training and recruiting small volunteer groups. Nicole enjoys connecting with new volunteers and finding ways for them to partner with LifeCare Alliance.

Nicole hails from the small state of Delaware, and she relocated to Columbus when she married her husband Jeremy in 2017. She’s a huge Philly sports fan, has six step kids, two cats, a dog, and a tortoise. She also spends her time working on her small business fair trade company, which partners with artisans in 16 countries to create beautiful and useful products and sustainable jobs.

Second row (L to R)

Curt Vance, PhD, Senior Pet Care Coordinator, cvance@lifecarealliance.org

You may have heard from Curt if you’ve ever delivered a pet care route. As the Senior Pet Care Coordinator, Curt manages the day-to-day activities of senior pet care services. This includes training and scheduling volunteer groups, coordinating pet food delivery, and providing veterinary financial assistance for our clients’ pets.

Curt lives in Westerville with his wife Kelly. He has two sons who attend The Ohio State University. While not working, Curt enjoys playing guitar and ukulele, as well as bird watching.

Claire Eastman, Chief Corporate & Community Engagement Officer, ceastman@lifecarealliance.org

Claire is the Chief Corporate and Community Engagement Officer at LifeCare Alliance.  You may run into her at outreach events, public speaking engagements, or around LifeCare Alliance. She is responsible for managing the recruitment, training, and retention of over 7,800 annual LifeCare Alliance volunteers.  Claire also oversees the intake, pick-up, and placement of in-kind donations to the Alliance as well as our signature Senior Pet Care program.

Claire likes to say that her job is not her occupation but rather her “occupassion”.  Claire lives in Westerville with her husband of 10 years, Chris.  Between them, they have five kids ranging in age from a college freshman to a college senior.  Claire loves to read, travel, and spend time with her family.

Third Row (L to R)

Ghadir Amin, Meals-on-Wheels Engagement Coordinator, gamin@lifecarealliance.org

Ghadir is the face of the Corporate & Community Engagement team at Harmon Avenue, welcoming new groups, providing orientation and training, and directing volunteers to their assignments. You have most likely run into her if you’ve picked up home delivered meals from Harmon.

Originally from Iraq, Ghadir immigrated to the United States as a child. In 2021, she found her calling at LifeCare Alliance. Ghadir finds immense joy in working with volunteers and seeing the collective power of a united community. Beyond the busy schedule, Ghadir’s heart lies in her love for planting and nurturing life and with her two spoiled cats.

Stephanie Sparrow Hughes, Community Engagement Manager, shughes@lifecarealliance.org

If you’ve ever volunteered with a large work team, chances are, you’ve met Stephanie. As a Community Engagement Manager, Stephanie is our contact person for corporations who want to give back to their community. She enjoys promoting the LifeCare Alliance mission by speaking at company and community events and expanding outreach for all people to give back and serve those in need.

In her free time, Stephanie speaks to community groups about preserving diverse narratives and serves on the board for the Franklin County Genealogical and Historical Society. She and her husband Martin love to travel and enjoy nature walks. As a sun baby, one of her favorite things to do is to soak up some rays.

Anne Peters, In-Kind Donation Coordinator, apeters@lifecarealliance.org

If you’ve ever donated a gift-in-kind, you’ve probably met Anne. As the In-Kind Coordinator, Anne is responsible for managing and disbursing the in-kind product donations across the agency.  She had the pleasure of heading the Holiday Adopt a Client program this year, providing gift bags to nearly a thousand clients and family members over the holidays.  So, if you donated to or participated in the program, you have likely received emails or calls from Anne.

Aside from a passion for nonprofit work, Anne loves to garden, read books, and cook. Over the past decade, Anne has been involved with various nonprofits, including volunteering with Peace Corps Tanzania. She is committed to serving the community she loves with compassion and empathy.

The One and Only LifeCare Alliance

By eNewsletter, January 2024 Newsletter

For more than two decades, LifeCare Alliance has had a powerful tagline: Nourishing the Human Spirit. And while that tagline is still very relevant to what we do, and the philosophy under which we operate, we found we needed something that was more encompassing of all our services. With the help of our branding firm, the incredible FORT, we were able to identify and articulate what sets us apart—and makes us the one and only.

When you’re the only daily provider of home delivered, hot meals —being there matters! When you’re the only free cancer clinic operating in the state—being there matters! When you’re the only dedicated diabetes camp for youth and teens in central Ohio—being there matters! Whenever someone feels isolated, frightened, or limited, being there matters! Being There Matters™!

Help-at-Home Aide Honored for Saving a Life

By eNewsletter, January 2024 Newsletter

In December, our associate, Sheryl Horton, knocked on a client’s door for her weekly home care services. When the client didn’t respond, Sheryl took action. She called the client multiple times and got no response. She then contacted the proper authorities and was able to get the client life-saving services. Franklin County Senior Options awarded Sheryl an Exemplary Certificate of Service in recognition of her quick, and life-saving action in an emergency situation.

Aides like Sheryl know their clients well, allowing them to identify when things seem a little out of character. Stories like these prove that Being There Matters™. The aides that perform these services go above and beyond to deliver the best care possible, and they couldn’t do it without the support of our Alliance.
