This year’s annual March for Meals event was held the week of March 18-22, 2024. Several local elected officials from three different counties shared an hour or two of their time by delivering Meals-on-Wheels or preparing meals in our kitchen. This gave them a hands-on opportunity to connect with constituents served by LifeCare Alliance, while also raising awareness for senior hunger and isolation.
When asked about the importance of delivering meals, here’s what a few had to say:
City of London, Ohio’s Mayor Patrick J. Closser said, “I’m proud to be a LifeCare Alliance Meals-on-Wheels supporter, alongside the many dedicated volunteers who nourish our community’s most vulnerable residents. It’s a wonderful program that delivers both healthy meals and a friendly check-in, ensuring no one goes hungry or feels alone.”
Representative Beryl Brown Piccolantonio shared on her Instagram page, “My route took only an hour and totally doable on my lunch hour. Meal delivery is critical for those with temporary need or to help older individuals age in their homes.”
Representative Allison Russo said, “I’ve been a longtime supporter and volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels, and it was great to be out today delivering meals to clients again. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who show up every week to deliver critical nutrition to our most vulnerable residents and who make this program a success!”
