Beat the Heat is Almost Here

Our Beat the Heat Fan Campaign benefits Central Ohio’s most vulnerable residents during extreme heat emergencies. Last year, LifeCare Alliance collected and distributed more than 2,000 fans! We are still a ways out, but it is never too early to start planning a neighborhood, family, or work fan-drive to support our community.

Why donate a fan?

Older adults, those with medical challenges, and homebound individuals are more susceptible to heat exhaustion and heat stroke. A simple box fan can lower a room’s temperature by up to 10 degrees.

How to help

  • Purchase a new fan from your preferred retailer (or e-tailer!) and drop it off at your nearest Franklin County fire station. You may also drop it off at 670 Harmon Avenue, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donated fans must be new; used fans cannot be accepted as they are considered a fire hazard.
  • Pick up fans from fire stations and deliver them to our facility at 670 Harmon Avenue.

More information on these volunteer opportunities as well as the LifeCare Alliance Beat the Heat Fan Campaign can be found at www.lifecarealliance.org/fans.
