VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Meals-on-Wheels
DELIVERY
Deliver prepared nutritious Meals-on-Wheels to homebound neighbors during the lunch time, using your own vehicle. Each route lasts approx. 1-1 ½ hours and delivers meals to 12-15 clients. Shifts available on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, departing from our 670 Harmon Ave location or one of 39 satellite locations across Franklin, Champaign, Logan, Marion, and Madison counties. Individuals and groups may also Adopt-A-Route with delivery options anywhere between one day a month to five days a week.
KITCHENS
Help behind the scenes to portion, pack, and prep materials for Meals-on-Wheels delivery. Open from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday and 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at our 670 Harmon Avenue location.
Groceries-to-Go Pantry
FOOD PANTRY SUPPORT
Organize and stock Groceries-to-Go inventory according to categories (fruits, vegetables, pasta, etc), fill grocery orders and bundle for delivery drivers. Shifts available morning (9:30 – noon) and afternoon (1:00 – 4:00) Monday through Friday at our 670 Harmon Avenue location.
DELIVERY DRIVERS
Pick up bundled orders and deliver to 1-3 clients using your own vehicle. Deliveries will be picked up at our 670 Harmon Ave. location during the morning (9:30 – noon) or afternoon (1:00 – 4:00) Monday through Friday.
Senior PetCare
PET FOOD DELIVERY (ANIMEALS)
Meals-on-Wheels, but for pets! Senior PetCare volunteers deliver supplemental pet food and supplies to homebound clients in Franklin County. Our AniMeals route opportunities offer flexibility for delivery. You decide the day of the week and time. Each route lasts approximately 1 hour and delivers pet food to 5-10 clients. Routes are delivered once per month using the volunteer’s vehicle and supplies are available at our 670 Harmon Ave. building between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., 7 days a week.
BAG AND SORT PET FOOD AND SUPPLIES
Sort, portion, and prepare pet food and supplies for delivery to clients. Last year, over 800 clients received delivered pet food and supplies. Inside activity, located at our 670 Harmon Ave. building. Opportunities available 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Other Opportunities
Assist with a variety of areas including volunteering in the office Senior Dining Centers, or Wellness Centers, assisting with projects and events, or sponsoring a supply drive.
GENERAL OFFICE SUPPORT
Many of our Agency’s departments have general needs for filing support and office assistance. Needs and times vary depending on department.
PROJECTS & EVENTS
The agency holds several major events over the course of the year and there are multiple opportunities for individuals and groups to assist throughout the year. These include Big Wheels (January / February); Fan Campaign (June – September); and Senior Farmers Market Nutritional Program (July – October).
SUPPLY DRIVES
Have your family, group, church, or company sponsor a supply drive to donate non-perishable food items, household & hygiene items, or pet food and supplies. Visit our Amazon Wish Lists to see what is currently at the top of our need list.
CANCER THRIFT SHOPS
Thrift stores in Grove City, Reynoldsburg, and Worthington raise money to support the Columbus Cancer Clinic. These shops are powered by volunteers, who operate every facet of the business. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, visit your desired location.
ONE-TIME GROUP ACTIVITIES
Bring your team for a one-time volunteer experience to deliver Meals-on-Wheels, assist with assembling care boxes for our clients, sort and bag pet food, help in our kitchens and food pantry. Contact us today to plan your visit!
