JOB CLASSIFICATION: Development Associate
STATUS: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

REPORTS TO: Director of Advancement
This position will have frequent contact with donors, media personnel, volunteers, and Agency personnel. Work requires attention to detail, strong writing, graphic, and communication skills, knowledge of special events, as well as the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. This position heavily supports Director of Advancement with the agency’s annual campaign, as well as individual donor engagement, cultivation, outreach, special events, and donor database. This position is also responsible for supporting Agency marketing, communications, and media/public relations efforts, while engaging with the broader Agency Development team to assist with corporate donor and volunteer engagement, events, and other duties as assigned. This position requires a professional demeanor at all times to project a positive image that is crucial to the success of the Agency. Work performed in this position will be of a professional and confidential nature. Work requires an understanding of general office practices and an understanding of the inner workings of the Agency, its programs, and fundraising revenue. It also requires performing multiple tasks with multiple deadlines.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Advancement and in cooperation with other Agency personnel. This position will require a significant amount of independence and self-direction to accomplish its essential functions and responsibilities.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Fundraising and Donor Engagement
Support annual campaign. Support donor engagement efforts, including donor calls, lunches, and assisting with all special events as needed. Support in-kind donation efforts of Agency, including donor engagement, tracking, and logistics.
Assist in maintaining and managing data into the donor database, in keeping with Agency and team standards. This includes donations, updating donor information, new donor information, generating reports, maintaining donor lists, mail merging letters, labels for mailings, and other correspondence to donors and volunteers.
Marketing and Communications
Assist in developing standard marketing materials, including Agency brochures, press releases, website, menus, etc. Assist with digital marketing efforts, including social media, website content, and e-newsletter. Assist with nominations and awards for Agency publicity.
Responsible for assisting with Agency special events as assigned.
Support volunteer efforts as needed, including volunteer information and hours, making changes and deleting records, and maintaining the confidentiality of the information according to department and agency policy. Performs other departmental and agency functions as necessary. This includes providing back-up coverage for the Volunteer team, attending Agency functions, attending and participating in departmental meetings and committees as necessary and performing other duties as assigned.
Third Party Fundraising
Assist in supporting Advancement team for community partner relationships and/or supporting fundraising efforts as needed.
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Nonprofit Management/Business/Marketing/Communications or equivalent experience in fundraising, communications, marketing, and public relations, with at least one year of Development, communications, social media, and/or design experience; excellent customer service and professionalism; excellent communication skills (verbal and written), proficient knowledge of computer operations and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Database Management, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress. Administrative or office managerial experience; Data entry skill using a variety of programs also needed. General knowledge of website management preferred.
Full time employment working eight (8) hours per day, forty hours per week, between 8 a.m. opening and 5 p.m. closing, Monday through Friday; occasional weekend, evening, or early morning hours.
