POHC Volunteer Driver

Office Specialist

Food Pantry Assistant

POSITION: Project Open Hand Cols Volunteer Driver

PURPOSE:  To enable those living with HIV/AIDS to stay in their own homes by delivering meals to those unable to prepare their own.

RESPONSIBLE TO:   POHC Program Director 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Training:
a. Attend an orientation.
b. Go on a route accompanied by a trainer to become familiar with procedures.
c. Attend yearly updates.

2. Deliver meals:
a. Weekdays ? pick up meals at LifeCare Alliance and deliver to your homebound neighbors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. The ability to read maps and follow instructions.
2. Relate to older adults and chronically ill.
3. Adapt to different lifestyles and circumstances.
4. Develop approachability skills and compassion for others.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:
1. Approximately two hours to deliver a route.
2. Schedule arranged for weekday availability only.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid driver?s license.
2. Willing to drive your own car.
3. Maintain adequate insurance.
4. Completion of volunteer orientation and required documents.
5. A desire to give assistance and supportive care to those living with HIV/AIDS.

POSITION:  Project Open Hand Columbus Office Specialist   

PURPOSE:  To support Program Coordinator by providing clerical support  

RESPONSIBLE TO:   Program Coordinator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Answer telephones, take messages, schedule pantry orders.

2.  Use computer data base to check client information. Enter data into computer 
      data base when necessary.

3.  Make copies and file client information and folders.

4.  Help drivers organize daily deliveries.

5.  Prepare food pantry orders as needed.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to answer phones using good customer service skills and to take     detailed messages. 
2. Ability to use copier machine.
3. Ability to perform simple filing tasks.
4. Ability to organize deliveries meeting time deadlines.
   

TIME REQUIREMENTS:
9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. Monday through Friday; at least one day per week commitment.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Person should have some clerical experience or desire to work in a non-profit program serving HIV/AIDS clients. 

POSITION:   Food Pantry Assistant 

PURPOSE:   To maintain the food pantry in good working order, bag orders, and distribute orders to clients.

RESPONSIBLE TO: POHC Program Director

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Stock new inventory on shelves, rotating older inventory to the front of the shelf for disbursal
2. Organize and stock inventory according to categories (fruits, vegetables, pasta etc.)
3. Bag grocery orders for pick up
4. Distribute orders to clients that come to clinic to pick up filled orders
5. Notify inventory/maintenance coordinator or homecare support director of drop-in requests
6. Maintain the pantry in good order by disposing of trash and unneeded cartons in the dumpster


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Strong organizational skills
2. Ability to lift 20 pounds
3. Interest in working independently with little supervision
4. Excellent communication skills
5. Possesses integrity and values client confidentiality 
6. Radiates compassionate positive attitude
7. Comfortable with those living with HIV/AIDS.


TIME REQUIREMENTS:
 Between the hours 9:00am and 2:00pm, Monday - Friday.
