LifeCare Alliance is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1898 as the first Visiting Nurse Association in Central Ohio. Catherine Nelson Black, the mayor's wife, along with 17 of her friends, had the vision to establish a community and in-home nursing care organization called The Instructive District Nursing Association.

Today, while our name has changed to LifeCare Alliance, our visiting nurses continue the vision of Mrs. Black by providing a comprehensive array of skilled nursing care in the home as well as in the community to those who need it most.

Our course of therapy ranges from independent-enhancing services, such as Meals-on-Wheels, Help-at-Home and Visiting Nurse Program to acute, intermittent nursing and prevention programs for homebound older adults and our chronically ill neighbors.
